Tombolo Academy is a specialist school delivering a rich educational program for students with a unique combination of abilities and challenges. These students are defined as twice exceptional.
The criteria on which offers of enrolment at the Tombolo Academy are made are based on meeting all the following criteria:
Family Partnership
Collaboration is one of our values and is a critical component of our work with students and families. There is an expectation for families to work in partnership with us.
Intellectual Ability
An IQ test performed by a recognised psychologist.
A Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC)
FSIQ 90 plus with at least one subtest in the 90th percentile.
Disability
Evidence of a disability.
A disability is any recognised by the Disability Standards for Education 2005.
A disability is not restricted to a specific type of child. A certificate of ‘disability’ from a relevant practitioner must be provided before enrolment in the school.
Age
Students should be between 8 and 16 years of age.
Engagement and Participation
To meet the enrolment criteria, students need to demonstrate a capacity to engage in the learning environment and participate in lessons independently.
Independence
Our students must be able to participate in learning tasks and manage the learning environment without full-time 1:1 support.
If you are unsure whether your child meets these criteria, please contact the school office and arrange a call or meeting with one of our team members to discuss.
